The blade is the most heavily used part of any döner knife. Once it goes blunt, the cut quality suffers – and the risk of accidents rises. Here's how to keep the blade in top condition.
When to change or sharpen?
- The slices fray or tear.
- More pressure than usual is needed.
- Visible nicks or wear on the cutting edge.
Changing the blade – step by step
- Switch off the device and disconnect it from the power (or remove the battery) – always do this first!
- Release the guard and the fastening.
- Carefully remove the old blade.
- Fit a new original blade (Ø 80–100 mm) and fix it firmly in place.
- Mount the guard, check the fit, and test.
Sharpen or replace?
Slight dullness can be properly re-sharpened. In the case of nicks or heavy wear, replacement is the better choice – a new blade is inexpensive and ensures consistent quality. You'll find matching parts in the guide Döner Knife Spare Parts.
Safety first
Only work on the blade when the device is disconnected from the power and while wearing protective gloves. More tips in the guide Using a Döner Knife Safely.
Conclusion: A sharp blade is the basis for a clean, safe cut. Original replacement blades for all models are available directly from MAVI.
